Downtown Revitalization

City of Gleason

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Gleason Downtown Revitalization Program is a 501c (3) Compliant, Non-Profit Organization that is dedicated to raising funds to support initial downtown revitalization projects that can provide the foundation for grant applications to fund larger projects. The objective of the organization is to engage in revitalization efforts to renew downtown areas and/or restore areas to their former prominence as a center of community activity.

The GDR Committee is proud to have been a part of several projects since being formed in 2014. Some of these projects include the restoration and placement of downtown caboose, a disc golf course at Huggins Park with replacement baskets, Snider Park Sign, Huggins Park Sign. In partnership with past and present community businesses and citizens, the committee was also able to assist with fall décor at the city’s welcome signs, 12 new benches, and flower pots for businesses. They’ve also coordinate several town planned occasions and fundraisers such as music events, block parties, Bingo nights, Tater Town Special events, Minerals Day events, shop local promotions, sports tournaments, Downtown Christmas, music nights, and more.

Another special goal of the committee is to recognize and celebrate the people who make Gleason such a wonderful place to live and raise a family. A commemorative wall was created to commemorate the community’s past and present businesses, teachers, coaches, and caring citizens; it’s affectionately referred to as “The History of Gleason Wall.”
